Here are some tidbits about me and my life…
Lifestyle
I grew up in Southern California and still live each day as if I were at the beach wearing baggy shorts, comfy sandals, t-shirts and cool shades with a laid back attitude.
Love
I am married to an amazing human being, Margaret Keig.
We married in October 2005 in the chapel at the seminary where we met while studying religion and theology.
Our wedding (check out the photo section!!) was in the Quaker tradition, which matches our value system of compassion, nonviolence, and egalitarianism.
Learning
My educational background includes an undergraduate degree in Interpersonal Communication Theory, a graduate degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution and a seminary degree in Theological Studies.
Since 1996, I have spent much of my personal and academic time researching, speaking and writing about trans experience and phenomenon.
I am a culturally creative gifted kinesthetic learner. an ENFP, and Enneagram Type 7
Values
I am vegan, support sustainable agriculture, make mostly fair trade and organic locally produced purchases at my neighborhood food cooperative and favor spending money at cooperatives of all kinds in general when one exists as an alternative to mega corporations.
I am exploring Taoism and have previously attended Unitarian Universalist, Quaker and Religious Science services and events. I prefered these three because they are non-creedal and non-dogmatic. I am particularly interested in the Bright Movement.
Identity
I am a Trans Man.
Passions
For the past 20 years, I have been advocating for a Just Society as a workshop facilitator, organizational leader, committee member, seminar trainer, public speaker and political activist.
A Just Society, in my worldview, is one which abounds with peace and love. Therefore, my work focuses on powerful non-violence, positive peace, absolute diversity and radical politics.
Some of the organizations, movements and issues I support;
Lou Sullivan Society, National Center for Transgender Equality, Season For Nonviolence, Queers For Economic Justice, Friends of Peace Pilgrim, Out & Equal, NCCJ, Challenge Day, MSCD GLBTSS, NSU Campus Mediation, MSCD Student Government, Lesbian Avengers, Queer Nation, Pace e Bene, PSR CLGS, Spectrum, UGU, Transgender Day of Remembrance, Creating Change, Soundings of the Planet …
Glamour
I am a published author. You can find my story Are You a Boy or a Girl? in Inspiration for LGBT Students (under former name: Gabriel Hermelin) and on several websites. Here are a couple of them - Tolerance.org, and CampusPride.net.
I have also been featured in many print and online news publications and audio recordings (mostly under former name). Here are a few of them CLGS, Street Miami, and East Bay Express
I am featured in the 2007 documentary Clocked: An Oral History by Martin Rawlings-Fein
I'd love to know when your birthday is… Click the Clock!!!
